New Year!

We're back! The second semester is here quicker than we expected (as usual). As we run into spring there is so much happening. Especially for our Kindergarten students. In this last "finishing" year of Primary there are so many things happening. This is the time of year when we see their confidence really take off. They have mastered so many of the lessons that we can confidently give them more responsibility. They are the best classroom helpers, lending a hand with messes and chores. They give lessons to our younger ones, and help redirect when they see someone in need of help. They are so accustomed to the daily routine of the classroom that they can be given the opportunity to be student teachers for the day which is rewarding for the Kindergarteners as well as the other students.

Our Pre-K students are starting to show these same traits and are beginning to crave the added responsibilities of being the "big kids" of the classroom. They can see where they will be in the next school year. We are also seeing them take off in their academics, giving us a good read on how they will progress into the next school year.

Our younger students are also getting more and more confident in their abilities, and are needing new lessons even more frequently.

This is the time of year, more than any other, where I personally feel the genius of this philosophy of teaching. We as guides have to trust as we go into each year that what we are doing is fostering the amazing growth of each child's mind and spirit is the best way, and every year I am astounded by how incredible these children are.

It's been a great year so far, and it's just going to get better! Happy New Year!
