Having a Happy(and Healthy) holiday season
It's that time again! Family, friends, fun, and flu.
It's a busy time for all of us. Family coming to visit. Trips to see family. Lots of friends. And unfortunately it's also cold and flu season. So in the spirit of keeping the holidays merry and bright, what can we do to keep coughing and sneezing to a minimum?
First off, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Healthy habits of nose blowing, cough covering, and constant hand washing cut back on the spread of germs. Alcohol based hand sanitizers help keep on the go hands clean.
Even in the midst of numerous family gatherings and outings, sleep is extremely important! Try to keep your schedule as close to normal as possible so little ones get plenty of rest.
Get outside. Fresh air is a great relief after being in enclosed spaces. And recycled, heated, air is also recycled germy air. Exercise keeps kids healthy as well.
Watch those coughs. Persistent symptoms may be signaling a bigger problem that needs a doctors attention.
Don't underestimate the power of a down day. In the midst of all the celebration, taking a day off to rest might be just what everyone needs to recharge!
