Community Montessori School
We feed the intellect, we nurture the spirit, and we love the child.
WELCOME TO COMMUNITY MONTESSORI SCHOOL

Montessori is all about community. As a traditional Montessori environment, Community Montessori School strives to bridge family and school. We provide children with a loving academic environment to help them thrive. The children develop responsibility for themselves and community, as they assist each other in learning and growing within the classroom. An emphasis on etiquette, manners, and conflict resolution expands your child's emotional and social growth in a developmentally appropriate way. These blossoming children gain many skills and traits of character that will aid them in their future self-development.
You are welcome to come in and see what makes Community Montessori a special and unique place of learning and growing.
We encourage our students to ask insightful questions and develop critical thinking skills, to explore their unique learning styles, and enjoy non traditional ways of thinking. We invite you to contact us and learn more about Community Montessori School and discover an education built for your child and your family.

What Makes Us Special?
Since 1998 Community Montessori School has provided an authentic, multi-age environment closely following the time tested philosophy set out by Dr. Montessori over 100 years ago. Our low ratio program and low staff turn over means that your child enjoys a consistent, attentive experience. Children enjoy a beautiful "oasis in the desert" that allows for an outdoor classroom as well as abundant opportunity for exploration and discovery.

In addition to our beautiful traditional Montessori materials, we keep pace with curious young minds by rotating our cultural lessons monthly. Age appropriate cultural lessons in geography, science, and virtues provide a well rounded education beyond the "basics". Our peaceful classroom provides a safe, warm, homelike atmosphere. We truly "follow the child", starting as young as two years old, by providing a wealth of choice within structure. Adhering to the philosophy of a multi-age classroom provides invaluable peer support and mimics a family dynamic. This aides in development as well, allowing these burgeoning learners to develop a true love of knowledge and study that will serve them well into the rest of their lives.

I am thrilled to share our experience at Community Montessori, where my son has attended for the past year. From the moment we walked through the doors, the school felt like an extension of our home. The experienced teachers truly embody the Montessori philosophy, providing a nurturing environment that promotes independence and curiosity among the children.
One of the highlights is the low student-to-teacher ratios, which ensure both safety and individualized attention for each child. This personalized approach allows my son to thrive and truly engage with his learning.
The school is always neat and tidy, reflecting the pride that the kids take in being part of this wonderful community. We've made many great friends, and the sense of belonging is palpable. I can't express how much I appreciate the supportive atmosphere created by both the staff and fellow parents. We are excited to see what the next few years will bring as part of this amazing community!

Community Montessori School came into our lives when we needed them the most.
We were returning to daycare, school and work after COVID, and we were struggling to find the right fit.
When we found CMS it was exactly what we were looking for; a gentle and supportive environment. This was our first experience with a Montessori school, and we have seen, again and again, all of the benefits of this environment at this age. Both of my kids have been tremendously enriched by the school, and I am consistently surprised and impressed by what they have learned from day to day.
The care and love the staff has for the kids and their families is endless. They work tirelessly to give our children the very best. I respect and truly care for the CMS staff and am beyond grateful for them. They are not only teaching, but helping raise our children. The essential building blocks they are learning will stay with our kids throughout their lives.
CMS itself is even a hidden gem, with a beautifully sweet property that instantly makes you feel safe and at home.
I can say with confidence that CMS is more than a school, it is family.

My husband and I are incredibly grateful for CMS, where our daughter has attended for the past year. As this was our first time searching for a school, we researched and toured nearly 10 preschools in our area (mainly Montessori, but also some more traditional ones). As a stay-at-home mom, I was also apprehensive about starting our daughter at 2½ years old and even considered waiting longer. If it weren’t for CMS, we probably would have waited, because I truly believe no other school offered the environment that was most important to us—especially with her starting so young.
The Montessori approach is clearly implemented in every aspect of CMS, both academically and socially. For us—and for our daughter’s personality—the nurturing and respectful environment were the most important values in our search. Most of the teachers have been at CMS for over a decade, which was not the case at any of the other schools we toured. I love that our daughter can build a relationship with her teachers over the years, rather than changing to a new teacher every year. I believe this consistency provides a strong foundation for her academic and social development.
The first thing I always tell people when they ask about CMS is this: At all the other schools, yes, I connected with the director or whoever was giving the tour on some level—but I’d only get maybe five minutes or less of face time with a teacher, and I always left feeling unimpressed with their classroom presence and knowledge of curriculum.
I’m truly impressed with the CMS curriculum and culture. On other school tours, I received more papers and booklets, but honestly, I felt a disconnect between what was written and what I saw. As a family, we follow Montessori values, and I began to research Montessori education on my own. From our first conversations with the Lead Teacher, Miss Jocelyn, I could see those values clearly reflected at CMS. After attending for over a year, I’m even more astounded by the depth and thoughtfulness of the lessons offered for early childhood development.
As someone who struggled with math in school, I wish I’d had the opportunity to learn numbers the way CMS teaches them. On your tour, please ask to see the math beads and the related lessons—they are a perfect example of how CMS teaches the concept with real understanding, not rote memorization. The lessons are intentional, and the freedom my daughter has in choosing her work has developed her concentration and self-discipline. I have so much trust in this school—it’s not the kind of place where your child comes home with 10+ generic worksheets a day.
To get an overview of CMS’s culture, I highly recommend reading The Family Virtues Guide: Simple Ways to Bring Out the Best in Our Children and Ourselves. CMS focuses on one virtue per week, based on this humanity program (such as respect, empathy, patience, etc.). To me, this is a clear example of how CMS goes beyond academics and truly teaches life skills and character development. When observing the classroom, you can clearly see how these virtue lessons provide a foundation of calmness that, in turn, allows each child to develop their concentration to achieve their highest potential and practical life skills at an incredible level.
We are truly grateful for the foundation CMS is providing for our daughter!
